Candiano Sentenced - May 2006
Brandon Candiano, of Dyer, Indiana, was sentenced to 82 months in prison. Following his release, he'll be under supervision for 5 more years. Fines were imposed, and additional conditions of his supervised release are 1) he must register as a sex offender, and 2) must not have any computer access. He was convicted on Feb. 10, 2006 of two counts of attempting to use a facility of interstate commerce to knowingly persuade, induce, entice, or coerce an individual who has not obtained the age of 18 years of age to engage in sexual activity, for which a person can be prosecuted with a criminal offense.
As stated below, the FBI, the U.S. Attorney, and the Judge on this case were all just outstanding. They are to be commended for exhibiting the highest level of integrity, dedication, and professionalism. We are very grateful to them!

UPDATE: On Feb. 10, 2006, Brandon Candiano was convicted by a jury, in federal court, on two counts of attempting to solicit a minor child for sex.
This was an interesting experience. Cait and I went to Indiana on Mon. Feb. 6, we met with the FBI agents and the U.S. Attorney that evening, and then waited to be called to testify. We stayed in different hotels. She drove there, I flew in. We both testified on Wed. Feb. 8.
The prosecutor on this case is truly outstanding! He was amazing. He presented the truth, in great detail, to the jury. He painted a very clear picture of exactly what occured. The FBI agents, and one in particular (I won't name him without his prior consent), were just incredible people, and an enormous amount of time and work went into gathering forensic evidence and preparing for trial. Much thanks go to them for all of their work on this. Thanks to the local LEO's who initially investigated, as well. You've all been a pleasure to work with. The Judge on this case was outstanding, as well. He was very professional, and fair to all parties.
The defense attorney was another story. You'd have to see him "in action" to understand just what he's all about. But, as you can see, he failed to get his client aquitted. He lost, and it didn't take the jury long at all to come back with a guilty verdict on both counts. I witnessed him and Candiano smiling and appearing very happy and practically high-fiving at one point, but it's my understanding that they didn't do that when the guilty verdicts came down, and the defense attorney left very quickly after that.
We're very pleased with the outcome, and much thanks go to the jury on this case. The guilty verdicts will, no doubt, protect children. The jury was presented with a lot of evidence over the course of several days, they listened attentively as the prosecuting attorney presented the facts, and they had to sit (with a straight face) through the defense attorney's dramatic productions, and when they were finally sent to deliberate, they quickly came back with "Guilty" on both counts. We thank and applaud you all for your service, and for acting to protect children in this case.
Sentencing is set to take place in
May 2006 (see above), and we'll update when we have details on that.

Less than 3 minutes into the conversation Brandon asked if Kira was a “wild girl”. Then, 8 minutes into the conversation he said this - “bcandiano2001 (3:05:56 PM): how does eight inches sound in ya?” - He was one of the fastest busts I’ve ever done, 30 minutes start to finish. He was very, very anxious to meet. We talked on the phone and he was on his way to pick up Kira and go back to her house for sex.
He said he drives a black Ford Ranger. - He also said "we
build townhouses" and he had to go check on the drywall being
done on one. He claims to be a student and a coach.
He showed up, and then left again to go get this 13 year old child…
