This case is just now being posted because we turned it over to the FBI for an arrest, charges were filed, and we’ve been waiting for the case completion and details on his conviction.

This guy didn’t have a home phone and couldn’t be phone verified as required by protocol at USCW. The phone number he did give was called and was registered to The University of Arkansas Ft Smith. It was a public phone. Also, he was using public computers at a library, so the IP wouldn’t have identified him either. This is an old case, from June 2004, and the CI is an ex staff member. Our protocol was very different at that time. This case did not meet protocol to be posted, so Cats (the CI who worked the case) called the FBI in Little Rock, AR, then Nikki talked with the FBI agent, and they picked it up from there and arrested him when he showed up for the child. Federal charges followed the arrest.

On March 3, 2006, Steven Gossett plead guilty to felony enticement of a minor female to engage in sexual conduct, in federal court. His sentencing is scheduled to take place in July '06. We'll update when he's sentenced.
