- He was called again at approx. 1:00 PM, Mountain Time. – The recording is approx. 10 minutes long. He said he is 1 hour from her area, and he was stopping to get gas. He talked more about his car, and about where he lives. And he said that he and Lacie are going to find out if her clothes look better ON her, or on the floor. And he said, when mom’s gone again, he’s going to come and get her and take her back to his house. He asked me to call him back after he’s done getting gas.

*Note – It sounds like he is talking to a little kid. Younger than 13, for sure.

- At his request, I called him back. – At approx. 2:00 PM, Mountain Time. – He described where he was, and exactly what route he was taking. He said he had just come into Wake County, and he was about 20 minutes away. He said he is going to 440, 5 miles to Capital Blvd, over to 540, 2 miles , and then he’d only be a couple of miles away. Then the cell cut out…

- Talked to him again (all of these are recorded). He was on Capital Blvd, approx. 5 minutes away. He said to plan on getting something to eat, and going to a rent a room where we can be together.

Further details and comments from Nikki about the Boggs trial -

I have to say, I was really, really impressed with the prosecutor on this case. He was amazing. He was very thorough, very intelligent, very aggressive in court, and I have an enormous amount of respect for him. He obviously poured himself into the prosecution of this case, worked his A** off on it, as did the others in the law center who work with him. They were all just incredible, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and work with such great people. It was very clear that the prosecutor on this case feels every bit as strongly as we do about the danger posed by people like Shawn Boggs, and he worked hard to make sure that Boggs won't have the opportunity to harm a child for a very long time.

The judge on this case was someone I'll never forget. I admire him more than I can even say. He was very fair to both the prosecution and the defense. He was very careful, very reserved. You couldn't read him... you couldn't predict which way he was going to rule. He paid very close attention to everything that was said and presented to him, and in the end, after careful consideration of all of the evidence in the case, he made a decision that will, no doubt, protect children. I hope that he, and the prosecutor, realize the scope of the good they have done, and that this really is about the kids that will be protected because of their hard work and because they did what was right in this case.

The whole experience was quite interesting, and I met some awesome people at the base. I wish I could thank every single one of them personally. I'd like to name some of them and give credit where it's due, but I don't want to do that without their permission.

There were many witnesses. The trial took place on Nov. 15, 16, and then the verdict and sentencing took place on Nov. 17th. I testified first on Nov. 15th, and then again the morning of the 16th. There was a lot of evidence to present, including 7 recorded phone calls. Shawn Boggs had driven over 2 hours to get to "Lacie", he had already rented the hotel room, I had him recorded just 5 minutes from the location where he was to pick her up, and when he arrived there, by his own admission to the Special Agents, he got out and was asking people where the eagle statue was. There was no doubt about what he intended to do.

Boggs is extremely, I mean extremely arrogant. He stared me down a few times, and smiled confidently. I felt sure he was going to prison. It seemed clear that he didn't believe so. Fortunately, he was wrong. There was also evidence presented, and testimony given, that strongly indicated that he prefers very young girls. It was sickening, frankly. I didn't have to see the images of child porn they found on his computer, thank God, but the judge and prosecutor had to, because Shawn Boggs wanted to see all of it. The pictures and videos. Claiming he wanted to see it because he'd never seen it before. They had an expert in there that was determining the age of the children in the pornographic images.

It was very sad to me, to see Shawn Boggs father there, and see the total denial he was in. I felt terribly for him, and wished that he didn't have to go through that. What Boggs put his father through is inexcusable. His dad doesn't know, he just doesn't believe that Shawn is what he is, and I can't blame him for that. He'd been lied to and manipulated, and that's his son. He wants to believe him, of course. He testified too, saying that Shawn's impulsive and made a mistake. It was clear to me that he didn't realize, at all, the seriousness and the scope of what Shawn had done.

So much happened,... this could go on and on. Shawn Boggs wife was there. Not in support of Shawn, though. She was there for the prosecution. She had already filed for divorce. I respect her very much for doing what's right, even though it was very difficult.

It was very stressful, but a very positive experience too, because the outcome is protecting children. Likely many children. And I was very blessed to meet so many wonderful people. People of true integrity and strength of character.

The Special Agents who worked this case were really outstanding, too. They worked hard on this, and were very careful about collecting evidence and following procedure in their interview with Boggs, and in every step they took in the investigation of this case. Many, many thanks go to them. Without the statement they obtained from Boggs, we may have had a different outcome. I'm extremely grateful to them.

This was a team effort. Big time. It took a lot of hard work on the part of many people to bring Shawn Boggs to justice, and to everyone involved in doing so - Thank You !!! And may God bless you.
