Update: Hill was referred to a general court-martial (highest level of court-martial) and in April (2007) we went to trial at Fort Riley, KS. Hill was convicted on two counts and sentenced to:

4 years in prison
Reduction to E1
Forfeiture of all pay
Dishonorable discharge from the US Army
Register as a sex offender upon release from prison

This man was arrested during a sting operation in Topeka, Kansas

James Hill, 35 year old male from Junction City, KS communicated with a 14 year old child ID in Topeka, KS from Aug. 6 through Aug. 11, 2006. He was very sexually explicit with the 14 yr old child ID, believed she was a virgin, and when he did arrive at what he believed to be her house on Aug. 11, 2006, with the intent to have sex with the child, he was arrested immediately.

He’s been charged with several crimes in connection with what he attempted to do to a young child, and on Thursday Aug. 17, 2006, James Hill was indicted by a grand jury for these attempted crimes against a child.

We look forward to participating in the prosecution of this man, and we are very grateful to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and the Topeka Police Dept. for their hard work, support, and for acting to protect local children from adults who would harm them.
