Eric Binns sentenced to 18 months probation, required to register as a sex offender, must submit to random checks of his home computer to determine whether he has had any contact with minors via the Internet, ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 years old. He's being "processed out" of the Army Reserve, and is now unable to continue as a student at Washburn University, where he was studying and planning to become a law enforcement officer.

The prosecutor on this case was truly outstanding! The detectives on this case were awesome, too!! We applaud and thank them for all of their work, dedication to the protection of children, and diligence in working to make sure that Eric Binns was prosecuted and convicted for his attempted sexual crime against a young child. They were truly a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to working with them again in the near future! The prosecutor, Tim Keck, is highly dedicated, very professional, and very determined to successfully prosecute anyone who would harm a child and / or take advantage of someone who's vulnerable. We admire and respect his stand on this type of crime.

The judge in this case was very, very good. Very professional, very fair, and we agree wholeheartedly with her decision to convict Binns for an attempted crime against a child. At sentencing, she told Eric Binns that his criminal actions were "frightening and despicable". The jury was very, very impressive. They were clearly intelligent, and extremely attentive throughout the trial. After closing arguements, they were sent to deliberate, and within just a few minutes, they came back with a guilty verdict. We thank and applaud them for their service, and for acting to protect children from Eric Binns.

The District Attorney, Robert Hecht, ADA Tim Keck, and everyone in the DA's office were just incredible people and we thank them for all they did and are currently doing to protect local children from sick people, like Eric Binns, who would harm them. - We look forward to working with you all again!
